Guest artist Guy Fishman performed Concerto No. 2 in D major by Franz Joseph Haydn on a 1704 Italian violoncello. The program also included excerpts from Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel and Mendelssohn's incidental music from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Heroes, Monsters & Madmen
Craig Schulman is widely recognized as one of the premier talents from the world of Broadway. He is the only actor in the world to have portrayed The Phantom in Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s The Phantom Of The Opera, Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, and the title roles in Jekyll & Hyde.
It was a great night as we paid tribute to two local treasures — Pete Seeger and the Hudson River — and performed some of our nation’s most beloved and uniquely American songs, including Aaron Copland's Appalachian Springand Morton Gould's American Salute. The orchestra was joined by members of the Hudson Valley Saxophone Orchestra and featured photographs of the Hudson River by Joseph Squillante.
