Kathleen Beckmann -- Music Director
Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of Pops
Poughkeepsie, NY, March 20, 2009
Music has helped to identify and define Manhattan's landmarks and
attractions for people around the globe in a way that no travel
guide or other media ever could. The NDSO Pops concert, "
A Slice of
the Big Apple" celebrates the sights and sounds of New York City
with narration and a variety of musical styles. The program features
a theater organ performance reminiscent of Radio City Music Hall,
Broadway show tunes, a climb up the Empire State building with King
Kong and a train ride from Grand Central Station. The concert will
also include classical works that are favorites at Lincoln Center
and the Metropolitan Opera House. A highlight of the evening will be
Rhapsody in Blue with world class harmonica soloist, Jia-Yi
He.
Come and enjoy the latest addition to our symphony season at
Rhinebeck High School, Saturday, June 20th at 7:30 p.m. What a great
way to celebrate Father's Day weekend... "Pops for Pop."
The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2006 to
bring live orchestral music to the Hyde Park community and the
surrounding Hudson Valley area. The orchestra, which includes both
professional and talented young musicians, aims to make
high-quality, professional-caliber performances accessible to
everyone, especially to students in area school districts.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and
seniors. They may be purchased two weeks in advance at Molloy's
Pharmacy (4170 Route 9) in Hyde Park or at the door starting at 6:45
p.m. the day of the performance.
