Music Director
Kathleen Beckmann is the artistic director and conductor of the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra. She has also been a guest conductor for The Sinfonia Bucuresti in performance
at the Centrul National De Arta "Tinerimea Romana." She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Crane School of Music and received the Crane Merit Award in Education. Mrs.
Beckmann completed her Masters Degree in Music Performance in 2003 at SUNY Fredonia. In addition to studying conducting with David Rudge at Fredonia, she has attended master
classes with David Becker at the University of Wisconsin, John Farrer and Neil Thomson at the Royal College of Music in London, Diane Wittry and the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra
and with Florin Totan, principal conductor of the Valcea Philharmonic
From 1994-98, Mrs. Beckmann served on the executive board for the National School Orchestra Association in New York State and was the editor for the publication Orchestrations.
She also has conducted the NYSSMA Directors Orchestra and the Saratoga/Warren All County High School Orchestra. Mrs. Beckmann is a certified string and major ensemble adjudicator
for NYSSMA and has been selected on an annual basis for Who's Who in American Education since 2003. She also is the orchestra director at FDR High School and teaches music in the
Hyde Park School District. She lives with her husband in Wappingers Falls, and enjoys traveling, and visiting family and friends.
